FAQ

Who is Structural Integration for?

Structural Integration is a method for everyone, regardless of age. It is beneficial for individuals experiencing pain and body tension, as well as those who want to increase their body awareness and effectiveness, including athletes, coaches and instructors, dancers, yogis, actors, and other body workers.

How often should one receive Structural Integration sessions?

It is recommended to have sessions at a weekly or biweekly interval. For children and adolescents, sessions may be less frequent to accommodate their growing process.

Are the effects of Structural Integration long-lasting?

Yes. Structural Integration aims to resolve existing body issues. After a full series of sessions, the body cannot revert to its previous patterns. There is a change in body awareness and sensation. People begin to function differently – move, stand, and breathe differently. Only future injuries, stress, or traumas can cause new disruptions in the structure.

Is it necessary to complete the full series of Structural Integration sessions?

To achieve lasting effects on the body and well-being, it is recommended to complete the full series of sessions. If you are unsure about committing to all sessions, you can try the first three and decide if you want to continue. Once you start the series of sessions that work on deep structures (from session 4 onwards), it is not recommended to interrupt the therapy, as it may have side effects such as a sense of imbalance and misalignment in different body parts.

How long does each session last?

A session lasts approximately 60 minutes. Please arrive 5 minutes before the scheduled time.

How should I prepare for a session?

It is recommended to wear underwear (sportswear is acceptable) or a swimsuit. Bring your medical documentation. Avoid applying lotions or oils to your skin before the session.

What can I expect during Structural Integration sessions?

Sessions begin with a brief conversation, observation, and analysis of the body's structure in a standing position and during movement. Each session is different and focuses on different anatomical areas. Sessions take place on a specialized table similar to a massage table. Some work may be done in a seated or standing position. Through precise touch, the therapist creates the appropriate space in the body and aims to restore the tissues' proper tension, elasticity, function, and physiological alignment. The person receiving Structural Integration sessions actively participates in the process by performing precise movements, mindful breathing, and focusing on specific body parts. This leads to the transformation of old movement patterns into new, more efficient ones. After each session, individuals are asked to share their experiences, describe any changes in their well-being, body, and structure.

Can I exercise on the day of a Structural Integration session?

It is recommended to avoid intense physical activity after a session. The body needs time to regenerate and rebuild after the treatment.

What are the contraindications for Structural Integration?

Structural Integration is not suitable for certain conditions, such as acute inflammations or cancerous diseases.
